Pre-COP28 Earth Diplomacy Leadership workshops start October 3
COP28 preparatory workshops co-convened by CCI and The Fletcher School will examine the process, the stakes, mutual gains, and non-market approaches to negotiation and problem-solving, Oct 3 - Nov 21.
The Earth Diplomacy Leadership Initiative is a collaboration between Citizens' Climate International and The Fletcher School at Tufts University (one of the world's premier centers of education for diplomats). The aim is to provide participants—diplomats and observers participating in multilateral negotiations on climate, biodiversity, food, finance, and sustainable development—with insights into:
The big questions of our times, which will shape diplomacy, geopolitics, and the fate of nations, the livability of local human experience, and the status of international peace and security.
A multidisciplinary approach to working across geographies, across areas of technical expertise, and across timescales, to better prepare for high-stakes, multidimensional negotiations.
Mutual gains negotiating strategies to better advance decisions that lead to co-benefits that foster shared sustainable development and improved budgetary, economic, and security outcomes for everyone at the table.
Critical situation analysis of the landscape of policy, procedure, and investable outcomes of the negotiating process, to support more effective advocacy inside the process.

Community of discussion and practice
We have also created a digital workspace, inside The People's Pavilion, to support a growing community of discussion and practice, through which current and past participants can share insights, ask questions, start thematic discussion threads, and mentor those coming after.
The People’s Pavilion will offer an additional layer of access to events taking place at and around the COP28 negotiations in December, including live streams for hundreds of events and curated thematic discussion forums.
Only registered participants will be admitted to the workshops or to the digital community. Please make sure to register, or share the registration link with anyone you wish to invite to the workshops.
